A senior adviser to Harris’ 2024 campaign said Gov. Tim Walz is looking forward to debating Sen. JD Vance at the CBS News vice presidential debate in New York City on Tuesday, in what could be the first and last meeting between the two before the election in November.

Fox News host Martha MacCallum asked Ian Sams, the former White House spokesman for oversight and investigations, about it on Monday’s “The Story.” a CNN report That says Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is nervous going into the debate.

CNN spoke to staff close to Walz and senior campaign officials who said the Minnesota governor was worried about letting Harris down and reportedly said in his vice presidential interview that he was a poor debater.

“I think voters will get a chance to see two candidates who are committed to two very different visions for the country,” Sams said.

“Just today, for example, we have a new report from the campaign about the famous Donald Trump in the first debate saying he has a ‘conceptual plan’ for health care. “Now, right after that, JD Vance, his vice president, came out and explained what this plan meant with urgency – that we were going to reopen so-called high-risk pools, for people with pre-existing conditions.”

5 STEPS TOWARD A NEW APPROACH TO HEALTH REFORM

MacCallum interrupted the senior aide and returned to her question about whether Walz was reportedly nervous and how he was feeling before the debate.

“He’s looking forward to the debate,” Sams said of Walz. “I think he’s looking forward to the debate over JD Vance, who again continues to advocate for a return to high-risk pools, putting people with pre-existing conditions back into these high-risk pools that could cost them more money and kick them out.” excluded from your insurance.

Vance gave one Interview in mid-September on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” in which he tried to put more flesh on the bones of former President Donald Trump’s “concepts” about a health care plan that would be an alternative to the Affordable Care Act.

“You want to make sure that pre-existing coverages – medical conditions – are covered, you want to make sure people have access to the doctors they need, and you also want to implement a deregulation agenda so people can choose a health insurance plan. “Suits them,” said Vance.

“We want to make sure everyone is covered. But the best way to do this is to actually encourage more choice in our healthcare system, rather than take a one-size-fits-all approach that puts a lot of people in the same insurance pools into the same risk pools, which actually makes it harder for people to make the right decisions for their families.

The Harris-Walz campaign released a 43 page report They attacked their Republican opponents’ health care plan and highlighted four key concepts that they say the Trump-Vance campaign wants to end.

Sams said he ultimately believes the November election will be “very close” and that voters will have the final say on what issues are most important to them when they go to the ballot box.

“I think when we look at the fact that we only have about 36 days until the election, the candidates need to be out there and earn the support of the people. And that’s a 50:50 race,” he told MacCallum.

“So when you think about a state like Michigan, or Wisconsin or Pennsylvania, where President Trump was at his rally in Erie this weekend, voters want to know: What are you going to do for me?”
