Victor Wembanyama dwarfs ‘tiny’ Chris Paul in first Spurs photos together

Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs sensation, is described as an “alien” due to his unearthly size and agility at 7 feet 2 inches tall. The NBA rookie of the year makes almost everyone look small.

That photo taken during the Olympics, when Team USA star Stephen Curry shot over the French giant’s outstretched arms, is still crazy.

What’s even scarier is that Wembanyama revealed that he gained 25 pounds this offseason to bulk up.

Now the 20-year-old basketball star center with a shoe size of 20.5 is teaming up with NBA legend Chris Paul, who is in his 20th season. Paul came from the Golden State Warriors and is known for his passing skills, which work perfectly when Wembanyama rolls to the rim.

The two met for Spurs Media Day and the huge height difference is breathtaking. Paul is 1.80 meters tall and looks up to Wembanyama like a child looks up to his average-sized father.

Here are other perspectives from the two:

This is shocking. It’s not quite as bad as that moment at the Olympics with 5-on-4 Yuki Togashi of Japan, but considering the size of an NBA player who averages over 6 feet, it’s shocking.

While Paul is no Togashi or Muggsy Bogues, who was the shortest NBA player in history at 5’7″, he still looks like an average person in the Wembanyama zip code.

Wembanyama finished his rookie season averaging 21.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and a league-leading 3.6 blocks per game. Paul now averaged 9.2 and had 6.8 assists off the bench with the Warriors.

It will be fun when the Spurs season begins on October 24 and the two really play together, with Wembanyam certainly going to “look up” to the veteran Paul on the pitch.
