(WSET) — The impact of Hurricane Helene left the ABC13 viewing area lashed with wind and rain in recent days, and there were also dozens of tornado warnings spread across the area.

Due to the weather-related devastation, a large group of Virginians in our observation area also lost power. At one point, AEP reported that over 100,000 customers in the ABC13 viewing area were without power. And although teams have been working to restore power for many years, tens of thousands are still in the dark days later.

Further rainfall and possible flooding are also expected in some areas on Monday, so residents in our region are not yet completely free of floodwaters.
