How to help North Carolina after Tropical Storm Helene • NC Newsline

As Western North Carolina continues Helene’s long road to recovery, here is an initial list of organizations where individuals can donate.

North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund
Donations to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund will go to nonprofit organizations that address the immediate needs of storm victims, such as food and water, cleaning supplies and other emergency supplies. All donations go to disaster relief.

United Way of North Carolina is the fund’s fiscal agent and will provide grants and reimbursements to nonprofits operating in affected communities.

Samaritan’s purse
Samaritan’s Purse mobilizes personnel and equipment and engages thousands of volunteers to provide emergency relief to victims of tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, floods and other natural disasters across the United States.

Baptists on Mission
Baptists on Mission responds to Hurricane Helene in the mountains of western North Carolina. They have set up dining units at First Baptist Boone and Biltmore Baptist in Arden. They are also establishing recovery sites in Boone, Spruce Pine, Hendersonville and Marion.

World Central Kitchen
World Central Kitchen teams are traveling to four states to serve meals and assess food needs to communities in the southeastern United States following Hurricane Helene. WCK teams are looking in Tennessee and North Carolina for the areas of greatest need. With many roads impassable in cities like Asheville, WCK is exploring all options to reach isolated communities.

Operation Airdrop Based at Concord Regional Airport
Operation Airdrop is a Texas-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing rapid relief to communities affected by natural disasters.

Founded in the wake of Hurricane Harvey in 2017, the organization mobilizes volunteer pilots and a diverse aircraft fleet to deliver vital relief supplies to areas cut off from traditional relief routes.
