Thibaut Courtois – 7: Made some crucial saves, although his match will be remembered for “upsetting” the crowd.

Dani Carvajal – 7: Some fantastic first passes in the first half to get his teammates on goal.

Antonio Rüdiger – 6.5: The only flaw will be the goal conceded where he kept Correa onside.

Eder Militao – 9: A performance that deserves to be called Militao the best central defender in the world. There are very few better ones in this form. Scored a brilliant volley and defended impeccably throughout the game.

Ferland Mendy—5: Poor possession with a series of loose passes conceding the ball in dangerous areas.

Tchouameni—6: A strange game for the Frenchman, who excelled defensively but offered very little possession.

Luka Modric—7: There were some late tackles in the first half that he probably would have handled well when he was younger, but which were important in the build-up with his ability to slow the game down and give Madrid control.

Fede Valverde – 6.5: Played as a right midfielder rather than centrally, which limited his impact to some extent. Although he didn’t play his best game, he was still a crucial part of Madrid’s game plan.

Jude Bellingham – 8.5: Carlo Ancelotti needs to develop a tactical plan that gets Jude on the ball more often – especially in difficult atmospheres like Wanda. He never let pressure lead him astray and always chose the right pass.

Vinicius Junior – 6.5: He provided an assist for the Militao goal and caused problems for Le Normand and Gimenez when they played centrally.

Rodrygo – 5: Never really got into the game, but was brought down in the penalty area in what looked like a clear penalty that wasn’t awarded or even assessed by VAR.

Substitutions:

Lucas Vazquez—5: Played too deep when conceding the goal.

Fran Garcia – 6: Caused a foul by Marcos Llorente that resulted in a red card for the Atletico Madrid player.

Endrick – N/A: Almost scored another goal like the Stuttgart stunner did with an early shot from a counterattack position.
