Stop us if you’ve heard this before.

The Green Bay Packers have a kicking problem.

And the answer doesn’t seem to be on the list.

Rookie kicker Brayden Narveson missed field goals of 37 and 49 yards in Green Bay’s 31-29 loss to Minnesota on Sunday. Narveson is now 9 of 13 this season – an abysmal 69.2%.

“These are critical errors and that is unacceptable. (It) hurts,” Narveson said. “I’m sure you can all see it on my face. It hurts. But I just have to look in the mirror, go back to the drawing board and get better. That’s about all I can say.”

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur stood by his man afterward. But remember: LaFleur has nothing to do with personnel decisions. That’s due to general manager Brian Gutekunst, who hasn’t found a reliable kicker since his decision not to resign veteran Mason Crosby after the 2022 season.

“I have a lot of confidence in Brayden,” LaFleur said. “I do. I know it’s hard. We all want the results. He’s a young guy and you go through that a lot with young kickers. Of course I know he’s disappointed, but I still have a lot of faith in him him.”

Narveson has missed a shot in three of Green Bay’s four games. And in the fourth, Narveson missed a field goal, but Tennessee was offsides and the game was called.

It’s not easy to find a kicker at the end of September. But if Gutekunst decides to hunt, he has some interesting options.

Here’s a look at some players who are currently on the road hoping for their phone to ring.

1. Matthew Wright

Wright has played 23 games for four different teams, making 47 of 59 field goals (85.1%) and 35 of 37 extra points (94.6%).

However, for some reason he couldn’t find a landing spot.

Wright lost a fight with veteran Chris Boswell in Pittsburgh this summer.

It seems all he needs is a chance.

2. Riley Patterson

Similar to Wright, Patterson was solid but couldn’t find a home.

Wright shot for three teams, making 59 of 67 field goals (88.1%) and 93 of 97 extra points (95.9%).

Patterson lost a tough battle in Washington this summer but would seemingly be an upgrade for Narveson.

3. Randy Bullock

The 34-year-old Bullock has played for eight teams in his 12-year career.

Bullock has made 216 of 259 field goals in his career – a respectable 83.4%. He also made 295 of 308 extra points (95.8%).

Bullock made 48 of 57 field goals (84.2%) and 80 of 83 extra points (96.4%) in his final three years.

4. Anders Carlson

This could drive Packer Nation crazy. But it could also be a better option than Narveson.

Carlson, a sixth-round draft pick by the Packers in 2023, had a difficult season a year ago. Carlson went 29 of 36 on field goals (80.6%) and 41 of 47 on extra points (87.2%).

Carlson and veteran Greg Joseph battled Green Bay’s ouster throughout the summer, and both players were eventually released.

While Carlson was inconsistent a year ago, he has improved this summer. And he was far more accurate than Narveson during his time in Green Bay.
