Andrew Vorhees and Michael Pierce are both out against the Bills

The Ravens are without two starters in the trenches as left guards Andrew Vorhees and Michael Pierce are inactive for “Sunday Night Football” against the Buffalo Bills.

Both players were in doubt as to whether they would play. Vorhees was unable to practice all week due to an ankle injury. Pierce was downgraded on the injury report Saturday after suffering a shoulder injury.

With Vorhees out, the Ravens could use veteran Patrick Mekari to fill the void and give rookie second-round pick Roger Rosengarten the starting right tackle spot. Or they could use Ben Cleveland or Josh Jones at left back. Guard Sala Aumavae-Laulu is also active for the first time this season.

Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum, who was questionable due to a knee problem, will be in the suit. That should help stabilize the interior, even if it faces a tough test with the Bills’ defensive line.

On Baltimore’s defensive line, the Ravens activated Brent Urban after he was a healthy scratch last week. More will be on the agenda for Broderick Washington, who is Pierce’s backup on the depth chart along with Travis Jones and Nnamdi Madubuike.

The Ravens’ only other inactives are all rookies: safety Beau Brade, center Nick Samac and wide receiver Devontez Walker. Baltimore needed one less inactive player after cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis was placed on injured reserve on Saturday.

Rookie cornerback TJ Tampa will make his NFL debut, filling in for Armor-Davis and rookie outside linebacker Adisa Isaac. The Ravens signed veteran pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue to the practice squad last week but did not place him on the gameday roster.
