Hurricane Helene causes school delays until October

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – Schools across south Georgia have begun announcing potential return dates while others are still assessing the damage caused by the storm.

Below is a list of planned school reopening times.

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College

  • Remains closed until Tuesday, October 1st

Atkinson County Schools

  • Remains closed until further notice

Berrien County Schools

  • Remains closed until Friday October 4th

Brooks County Schools

  • Remains closed until Friday October 4th

Clinch County Schools

  • Remains closed until Monday September 30th

Cook County Schools

  • Remains closed until Friday October 4th

Echols County Schools

  • Remains closed until Friday October 4th

Lanier County Schools

  • Remains closed until Friday October 4th

Lowndes County Schools

  • Remains closed until Friday October 4th

Thomas University

  • Remains closed until Wednesday October 2nd

Tift County Schools

  • Remains closed until Tuesday, October 1st

University of Georgia-Tifton Campus

  • Remains closed until Monday September 30th

Valdosta City Schools

  • Remains closed until Friday, October 4th

Valdosta State University

  • Distance learning is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 2nd and the campus will remain closed until further notice.

Wilcox County Schools

  • Remains closed until Tuesday, October 1st
