Kansas City Chiefs star Clyde Edwards-Helaire is set to return today – after missing the first four games due to severe post-traumatic stress disorder

The Kansas City Chiefs will welcome Clyde Edwards-Helaire back to the team on Sunday as he continues to battle severe post-traumatic stress disorder and mental health issues.

Running back Edwards-Helaire has not played yet this season due to a mysterious non-football illness, sitting out the first three games.

Earlier this week, a video surfaced on social media of Edwards-Helaire dancing in the locker room after training and the team have now confirmed the positive news that he is available for selection again.

The Chiefs received praise from players and fans last week after it emerged they had kept the former first-round pick on the payroll during his absence, a move they didn’t have to make.

The organization’s kind gesture caught the attention of a teammate, standout defensive end Chris Jones, who took to social media to praise the Chiefs.

“Classic move…” Jones wrote on X as other fans flooded the comments.

“Bosses are always one step ahead when it comes to how they treat their players,” a user added.

Edwards-Helaire is entering his fifth season with the reigning Super Bowl champions. The Chiefs selected him with the 32nd pick in 2020 and he quickly established himself as their best running back in his rookie season.

Although his role has diminished in recent years, his return Sunday comes at a great time with Isiah Pacheco out for several weeks with a fractured fibula.

Running back duties have been shared between Carson Steele and Samaje Perine since Pacheco’s injury, and Kareem Hunt will also rotate after re-signing with his former team last week.

Despite their injury woes, the Chiefs are 3-0 to start the year and will face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon at SoFi Stadium.
