The latest Coaches Poll top 25 rankings follow Week 5 of college football and, as expected, there have definitely been some changes.

Alabama And Georgia As expected, I put on one of the best shows in the sport. Well, maybe not as expected considering it was better!

But there were other games to talk about, so let’s take a look at the current Coaches’ Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 5.

Texas’ ship has been stabilized by Arch Manning since the sinking of Quinn Ewers. And with a win over Mississippi State for his first SEC win, Manning once again looked good for the top team in the coaches’ poll.

Now it’s a matter of time before Ewers returns and the Longhorns have two weeks to prepare for rival Oklahoma. The farewell came at exactly the right time.

Alabama has had the win of the year so far. The Crimson Tide’s thrilling 41-34 victory over Georgia was what college football is all about.

A 28-0 lead could have seemed demoralizing, but Jalen Milroe and Ryan Williams refused to give in after Georgia stormed back and took the lead. Welcome to the SEC Kalen DeBoer! Alabama never left.

Ohio State did what it normally does: win a football game. This time it was a 38-7 road win against Michigan State that opened Big Ten play.

Will Howard scored two touchdowns, Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith each managed one. In fact, the latter was also chasing points. This team is quietly dominant, with the SEC getting all the attention this weekend.

Tennessee had a bye week, but the Volunteers have clearly made their mark in four games this season. Nico Iamaleava could end up in the Heisman conversation this year.

But it’s running back Dylan Sampson who lights up the stats. He has 10 touchdowns this year!

Georgia was almost thrown out of the building on the way to Tuscaloosa. However, the Bulldogs erased a 28-0 deficit and trailed 41-34. Damn, they took a 34-33 lead!

Still, it might be a blip on the radar considering how Georgia is positioned this season. But this was a monumental victory for Alabama and a bitter defeat for Kirby Smart’s team.

Oregon returned to form this weekend with a win over UCLA. It was the Ducks’ dominance as Dillon Gabriel threw three touchdowns and Oregon moved up in the coaches poll.

Oregon is still the second-best team in the Big Ten behind Ohio State. The game is in a few weeks, so we have to wait for the epic duel.

The Nittany Lions got Illinois’ best shot, but the Fighting Illini couldn’t keep up in the second half. With a 21-7 win, Penn State remained undefeated.

Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton combined for nearly 200 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. There was also some real “whiteout energy” from the audience.

The Hurricanes avoided disaster with a 38-34 win over Virginia Tech. Sure, it was a thriller, but Miami lost. Well, until they didn’t.

A Hail Mary pass into the end zone was initially called a touchdown for the Hokies. Upon review, there was no clear possession and it appeared the receiver went out of bounds. Take a breather, Canes fans, Miami is still undefeated.

Missouri had a week off after its overtime win against Vanderbilt, and it was desperately needed. Eli Drinkwitz and his crew get Texas A&M next week, and the latter is hot.

However, don’t let the narrow victory fool you. Missouri is still 4-0 this season and has enough talent on both ends to compete in the SEC.

Michigan returned to the top 10 rankings this week with a win over Minnesota, but it wasn’t without drama. The Wolverines can still control a football game, but have struggled in the passing game.

The 27-24 win shouldn’t have been that close, as Minnesota was one questionable offside penalty away from recovering an onside kick. However, despite the one blemish against Texas, this team keeps going.
