NFL insider Ian Rapoport shared some news ahead of Sunday’s Week 4 game between the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots. While it was already known that wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who was listed as questionable, wanted to play, Rapoport revealed that another key player with questionable status – tackle Trent Williams – would also likely play.

Williams had soreness in his toes Friday morning, which kept him from practice, but there are signs he could be ready for the game.

Rapoport also provided an update on the schedule for running back Christian McCaffrey, who was sidelined with Achilles tendonitis. According to Rapoport, McCaffrey could return “at least” in early November.

Rapoport added that McCaffrey’s treatment last week in Germany appeared to be going well. On Friday, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that the 49ers plan to ramp up McCaffrey’s rehab starting Monday.

General manager John Lynch added: “And now Christian is back here and at some point we’ll get him back,” Lynch said. “We have certain goals to achieve and we will try to ramp up. And, God willing, things have calmed down and we can rebuild him in a really smart and thoughtful way.”
