Houston Texans star Joe Mixon receives positive injury update before Jaguars game

Houston Texans star running back Joe Mixon returned to the practice field on Friday.

After a 34-7 away loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Texans want to return to NRG Stadium and secure another win as hosts against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Second-year quarterback CJ Stroud will be without the services of star wide receiver Tank Dell, who is out for the game with a pectoral injury.

Fortunately, wide receiver Nico Collins will be ready to play after practice on Friday. He was placed on the injury report on Thursday for the first time this week with a hamstring injury. Another player who has returned to practice is running back Joe Mixon, who missed the last game with an ankle injury.

After returning to practice as a limited participant, Mixon is listed as questionable for Sunday’s contest. Here’s how the rest of the injury report unfolded.

The Texans started the week with a much more severe injury report. As game day approaches, Houston is seeing better results from a health perspective. Like Mixon, defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi also has a questionable name for the game.

Houston will miss Dell in the contest, but Mixon’s return would significantly help the offense. Stroud and the Texans have plenty of depth in terms of targets, but they need help from the rushing attack to open up the offense overall.

Backup running back Dameon Pierce is out, but Cam Akers would work well as Mixon’s replacement should the star return to the scene.

The Jaguars will be without at least two players on Sunday because they are ruled out. Considering four questionable players, Jacksonville could be shorthanded when they roll into town.
