The KO Contender of the Year is a clear winner and will receive $50,000

The UFC handed out four bonuses after Saturday’s card in France, including a knockout that will likely be at the top of the year’s knockout list.

After UFC Fight Night 243, four fighters received an additional $50,000 for their appearances at the Accor Arena in Paris. Check out the winners below.

Performance of the evening: Chris Duncan defeated. Bolaji Oki

Chris Duncan defeated. Bolaji Oki via technical submission (guillotine choke) – Round 1, 3:34

Chris Duncan started the evening in France with an impressive finish. To his surprise, Duncan only realized he had finished Bolaji Oki when he didn’t answer. Duncan (12-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) blocked a guillotine choke from below and released the hold to strike. However, Oki (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was asleep. Duncan then signaled to the referee that his opponent was in La-La Land and the fight was over. Duncan receives the first bonus of his UFC career, which literally fell into his lap.

Performance of the evening: Fares Ziam def. Matt Frevola

Fares Ziam def. Matt Frevola by knockout (knee) – Round 3, 2:59

The UFC might as well have handed Fares Ziam his bonus check as he exited the octagon. His knockout against Matt Frevola is a sure contender for Knockout of the Year. Ziam (16-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) dismantled Frevola (11-5-1 MMA, 5-5-1 UFC) in the first two rounds of the fight, but in the third he hit Frevola with a vicious knee on the exit of a clinch. Frevola was knocked unconscious by the contact and a few more punches followed before the referee could intervene. Ziam’s first UFC bonus is certainly an unforgettable experience.

Moragn Charriere kept the French crowd happy with another vicious finish. Gabriel Miranda tried to escape a clinch from Charriere, but didn’t expect a devastating blow as he turned back to his opponent. Charrière’s left hand sent Miranda to the canvas and the celebration began.

That’s three consecutive fights for “The Last Pirate,” earning a $50,000 bonus. Charriere is pure excitement.

Performance of the evening: Bryan Battle def. Kevin Jousset

Bryan Battle defeated. Kevin Jousset via TKO (punches) – Round 2, 3:47

As the French crowd was showered with back-to-back bonus finishes before his fight, Bryan Battle turned the cheers into boos. The fight spoiled the party for Frenchman Kevin Jousset and saw him suffer a second-round TKO win. He then got on the mic and delivered one of the most forceful heel promos on the mic, urging the French audience to continue booing him. Battle will fly back to the US with an additional $50,000, the second bonus of his UFC career.
