The Eagles cut AJ Brown and promoted Parris Campbell and John Ross

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — AJ Brown will join DeVonta Smith on the sidelines for Sunday’s wild-card playoff rematch against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the Philadelphia Eagles ruled out the star receiver.

Brown has been out since Week 1 with a hamstring injury. He practiced in a limited capacity for the first time since the injury on Friday and was listed as questionable in the final practice report before being downgraded to out on Saturday.

Smith was sidelined all week after suffering a concussion early in the fourth quarter against the New Orleans Saints in Week 3. Smith’s momentum faded after he was boxed in by the Saints’ defenders following a short completion, and he was caught off guard by a high strike from defensive tackle Christian Boyd. There was no flag in the game, but Boyd was subsequently fined $4,665 for a late hit.

With Brown and Smith unable to play, the Eagles signed veteran receivers Parris Campbell and John Ross from the practice squad. They will be included in the active game day squad alongside Jahan Dotson and rookie Johnny Wilson.

With the Eagles shorthanded against New Orleans, tight end Dallas Goedert stepped up and had a career day, recording 10 catches for 170 yards. Running back Saquon Barkley also helped carry the load with 156 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.

Jalen Hurts has struggled with Tampa Bay’s defense in his career. He is 1-3 lifetime with four touchdowns and five interceptions and a 58% completion percentage against the Bucs.

The Eagles lost 32-9 to the Bucs in the playoff game in January, capping the team’s season-ending 6-1 loss.
