A LARGE TAKEAWAY
Boston is playing it, folks.

Mickey Gasper has made another start as the club looks to finally give him his first big league hit. He went 0-4. Romy Gonzalez has become your everyday third baseman since Rafael Devers was sidelined with ongoing shoulder injuries. Greg Weissert and Luis GarcĂa were the first arms out of the bullpen, each allowing runners to cross home plate. Vaughn Grissom added another error to his total. Cutter Crawford failed to get out of the fifth inning and gave up six earned runs in one of his worst starts of the season.

The Red Sox never really had a chance, which is what you might have expected from a .500 team on September 28th.

STARS OF THE GAME
– Triston Casas hit his 13th home run of the season on Saturday, which is honestly pretty impressive considering he’s only appeared in 62 games.

-Junior Caminero is truly awesome as he finished 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs batted in.

– Shane Baz allowed just three hits in his six innings, struck out seven and allowed just one run on Casas’ opposite field shot.

NEXT
The Red Sox and Rays will finish their respective seasons on Sunday at Fenway Park, battling it out one final time to see who will finish in sole possession of third place in the American League East. Boston is expected to begin the acquisition process at the trade deadline. First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. ET, after an hour of pregame coverage on NESN.
