College football scores, games, updates: Georgia at Alabama, Illinois at Penn State and more

The biggest game of the season (so far) is just around the corner.

No. 2 Georgia will face No. 4 Alabama on Saturday night in the first top-five matchup of the season. It’s the last of four ladder matches in Week 5.

However, the biggest result of the day may have been achieved early on Saturday. Kentucky took on No. 6 Ole Miss in Oxford and stunned the Rebels 20-17 in a back-and-forth duel that ended with a missed field goal that would have tied the game.

Later in the day, No. 21 Oklahoma received a late pick 6 to set up a comeback win against Auburn and earn its first SEC victory. No. 16 Notre Dame also earned a decisive victory by holding off No. 15 Louisville while Colorado defeated UCF on the road.

Here are the biggest games remaining. Follow along as we break down all the action below.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: NBC | Line: Penn State -18 | Overall: 47.5

The Illini defeated previously undefeated Nebraska in overtime in Week 4, marking just the third time since 1951 that Illinois has won its first four games. A big reason for this is the improved play of former Ole Miss QB Luke Altmyer. Can he keep up on the road against Penn State? Against the Nittany Lions, opposing QBs only average 144 yards per game.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: ABC | Line: Georgia -1.5 | Overall: 48.5

This clash of perennial playoff teams features two Heisman contenders at quarterback. No QB is responsible for more TDs per game than Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Carson Beck was considered the favorite for the award for much of the offseason. Beck’s 2024 season hasn’t lived up to the Heisman hype, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Beck have a big game.

Time: 10pm | TV: FS1 | Line: Boise State -7.5 | Total: 64.5

Washington State is on the precipice of the AP Top 25 after a 4-0 start with wins over Texas Tech and Washington, and QB John Mateer is the winner. But the Cougars’ defense is allowing nearly five yards per carry – that’s an appetizing statistic for Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, who leads the country with an average of 10.5 yards per carry. There’s a reason he’s the non-QB with the best Heisman odds (+2000) at BetMGM.

This is Georgia’s first turnover of the season, and this couldn’t be a better star for the Tide!

  • Meanwhile, the Illini and Nittany Lions exchange punts after back-to-back shots on goal to open the game in Happy Valley.

With just under 11 minutes left in the second half, Penn State will have the ball back at its own 7-yard line.

  • touchdown Alabama!

Jalen Milroe dropped a perfect pass to Jam Miller for a 16-yard score, capping an 84-yard drive.

What a start for the Tide, who quickly led 14-0 against Georgia.

  • Georgia must punt on its first drive after an offensive pass interference penalty on Dominic Lovett halted momentum. It looked like a clear goal kick from Lovett.

  • Alabama starts with a TD!

QB Jalen Milroe takes the ball into his own hands from seven meters away. That’s the first TD Georgia has allowed this season, and Bama only needed one drive.

  • Touchdown Penn State!

Tyler Warren jumps into the end zone for a 3-yard score. Nice answer for the Nittany Lions to tie the game.

    Penn State 7, Illinois 7. 1st quarter

  • Georgia vs. Alabama is here!

Georgia wins the toss and shifts. Alabama will start with the ball.

Let’s start with the game of the year so far.

  • Touchdown Illinois!

The Illini strike first, and fast! QB Luke Altmyer finds Carson Goda for a 4-yard touchdown.

  • Final: Colorado 48, UCF 21

The Buffs left no doubt here and beat the Knights in impressive fashion.

  • Arch Manning and No. 1 Texas are rolling

While Quinn Ewers missed another game with an injury, Arch Manning threw for 324 yards and two TDs as Texas handily defeated Mississippi State in its first SEC game.

  • Colorado returns fumble for TD

UCF’s KJ Jefferson fumbles the ball near the goal line and Colorado’s Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig picks it up and returns it 93 yards for a touchdown.

This will be the culmination in Orlando.

  • Colorado stops UCF at the goal line

Any hope of a Knights comeback was just dashed by a tough goal line stand by the Buffs.

  • Final: USC 38, Wisconsin 21

Wisconsin led 21-10 in the third quarter before USC completely overwhelmed the Badgers, scoring the final 28 points to escape with the Big Ten victory.

  • Final: Oklahoma 27, Auburn 21

Auburn couldn’t get much going in the last second, and No. 21 Oklahoma rallied from a deficit of 11 in the fourth quarter. True freshman Michael Hawkins wins in his first start for OU and Auburn falls to 2-3.

  • Final: Notre Dame 31, Louisville 24

Louisville had the ball at midfield with a shot to tie the game with under a minute left, but an inexcusable delay of game penalty on 4th-and-1 made it much more difficult. Incomplete on the 4th and 6th.

The No. 16 Irish can look for a big win over No. 15 Louisville.

  • Oklahoma takes the downs

OU sacked Auburn on 4th-and-11 and that’s pretty much it.

Oklahoma will complete the comeback victory.

  • End of 3rd quarter: Colorado 41, UCF 21

The Knights don’t help each other much on offense or defense. After allowing a long drive for a score, they simply turned it over on a fumble.

  • touchdown USC

The Trojans just put the game on ice with a pick-6 from Mason Cobb. That’s enough for the Badgers.
