Georgia has a lot of star players to contend with in its matchup against Alabama (streaming tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC). The biggest star player UGA has to worry about is Jalen Milroe, the dual-threat quarterback who commands the Crimson Tide’s offense. College GameDay and the rest of the college football fan base will watch as his skills test Georgia’s stout defense.

Milroe emerged as the starter at Alabama after Bryce Young left for the 2023 NFL Draft, and his rookie season was excellent. He threw for 2,834 yards on 284 attempts, 23 touchdowns, six interceptions and a passer rating of 177.5, leading the Crimson Tide to a 27-24 victory over the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship and a spot in the playoffs, where they The Wolverines played close against national champion Michigan before losing 27-20.

So far this season, Milroe has 590 passing yards, eight touchdowns, no interceptions and a passer rating of 213.4 this year, even though Alabama has yet to play against an SEC team.

Of course, Georgia also has to compete with Milroe’s legs and arms. Milroe has 1,007 rushing yards and 19 rushing touchdowns in his career, showing his ability as a dual-threat quarterback. His legs put a lot of pressure on the defense and are arguably his best weapon

That’s not to say Milroe doesn’t have weaknesses in his game: He has a knack for chasing the deep ball (he had 34 throws of 20 yards from the air last year) and trying to run, which leads to him a lot of bags. He took 49 sacks last year and this year, giving him an absurdly high sack percentage of 14.5.

Despite his mobility, he’s also not a quarterback who can sneak well. His attempt to hit home runs on most of his running plays can lead to negative plays like sacks.

In this case, Georgia needs to make sure it wins against Alabama’s offensive linemen to take advantage of this. That’s easier said than done, especially if Mykel Williams can’t play. It will be a difficult task for Georgia to get the win over Alabama, but no. 4 under center for the Crimson Tide will make it even more difficult.
