Indiana coach Curt Cignetti urges students to stop studying in a great email

Curt Cignetti sent one of the best emails to football guys you’ve ever seen.

Cignetti and his Indiana Hoosiers are currently 4-0 and have a chance to start the season 5-0 for the first time in 57 years with a win against Maryland on Saturday.

During Cignetti’s very short tenure as the team’s head coach, there was a noticeable change in mood in Bloomington. The Hoosiers were once a punching bag in the Big Ten. Now they’re facing one of the hottest starts in America, and Cignetti needs students to do one thing:

Put the books away and start playing.

Curt Cignetti sends great emails to Indiana students.

Like any good leader, Cignetti needed to address the masses before a crucial game, and in 2024, on a college campus, an email blast is the way to do that. He didn’t disappoint us.

“When the clock hits zero and we are 5-0, I want you to be there to celebrate a historic victory with us. The tailgates can wait. The parties can wait. If you need to learn, that can wait too. “There are good things happening with IU football and you are a big part of it,” Cignetti said in part in the email sent to students.

That’s right, folks. Indiana’s football coach gave fans a pass from studying to Memorial Stadium to watch the game against the Terrapins.

Football. Guy. This is exactly the type of leader I want to lead my program. Study? Guys, you have the rest of the school year to study.

This is the only opportunity Indiana might have for a long time to break a 57-year streak. Put down the books, put on your Indiana gear and get ready to rock ‘n’ roll.

My only problem is that he says tailgates can wait. Tailgating happens *BEFORE* start. People need a nice vibe before they can watch the Hoosiers and Terrapins take the field.

Close your laptop, find a tailgate, get going, start the game, and then celebrate. It is a very simple but very successful formula.

You can watch Indiana play Maryland at noon EDT on the Big Ten Network. Hit me with your predictions [email protected].
