“Wordle” #1,196 clues, hints and answers for the game on Friday, September 27th

It’s hard to believe that something like this didn’t exist just a few years ago Wordle– at least in the lives and minds of the general public.

Years after developing the original concept, Josh Wardle, a Welsh-born software developer based in New York City, perfected the concept Wordle during the COVID-19 lockdowns before opening to the public in October 2021.

After his public debut Wordle exploded from 90 users on November 1, 2021 to 300,000 on January 2, 2022, according to Statista. The New York Times purchased it shortly thereafter for an undisclosed seven-figure sum and it became the most popular game on the release.

A big part of it WordleThe appeal lies in its simplicity. Players have six attempts to guess a five-letter word. Gray tiles behind each letter indicate that they do not appear in the word at all. Yellow means the letter is present but in the wrong position. while green shows players that the letter is in the word and in the correct place.

Erhan Aslan, an expert in applied linguistics who teaches at the University of Reading in the UK, has previously offered some useful advice on this Wordle Players in an interview with Newsweek.

“One thing I think is important in this game is the choice of starting word,” Aslan said. “It might be helpful to start with words that contain common vowels like e and a, consonants like r and t, and sound sequences.

“Choosing a word that starts with q, z, j, or x, for example, may not be the best choice. After a few guesses, you’ll get more feedback. Users will need to draw on some knowledge of phonetics to narrow down or eliminate some words that they may be thinking about.
