Remnants of Helene will bring rain showers and clouds to Metro Detroit this weekend

4Weather warningSATURDAY: Cloudy skies, showers possible. High: 72.

SATURDAY EVENING: Cloudy skies, showers possible. Low: 63.

SUNDAY EVENING: Cloudy skies, showers possible. Low: 62.

MONDAY: Cloudy skies, showers possible. High: 75.

After a dry end to the week, all eyes are on the tropics as Hurricane Helene made landfall early Friday morning as a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour. We will keep an eye on this system as it weakens and it will impact our forecast for the weekend.

We will keep active weather in the forecast as the remnants of Hurricane Helene move into the Ohio Valley. Cloud cover will remain and there is a chance of showers throughout the weekend. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s throughout the weekend.

We’ll factor in the chance of showers in the forecast and look ahead to early next week, but I expect some sunshine to make its way into the region as well as another cold front moves into the region. High temperatures reaching the mid 70s early in the week will fall to the lower 70s by Tuesday.

Pressure on the forecast increases through the middle and end of next week, but brings with it some cooler changes. High temperatures will drop to the upper 60s by Wednesday and warm back to the upper 70s by Thursday.

We forecast another chance for showers through Friday late next week, with high temperatures remaining in the upper 70s through Friday afternoon.
