Horror start for BVB! Less than 21 minutes had been played at Signal Iduna Park when the Black and Yellows were already 2-0 behind against VfL Bochum. In the ultimately safe 4-2 win, BVB keeper Gregor Kobel didn’t look particularly good when conceding the second goal.

After Matús Bero had given VfL a 1-0 lead (16th), Pascal Groß and Nico Schlotterbeck put their goalkeepers in serious trouble with two sloppy passes. Instead of clearing the ball, Kobel started dribbling against Bochum striker Myron Boadu.

The attacker pulled the Swiss by the shoulder and threw him off balance. Kobel wanted to point the ball away, but his attempt to clear it landed at Dani de Wit on the edge of the penalty area. He pushed the ball past Waldemar Anton without any problems for a 2-0 lead (21st).

Despite Boadu’s possible foul, the scene was not criticized by VAR. Kobel then raised his hand as an apologetic gesture to his teammates.

BVB thus seamlessly continued the 1:5 debacle at VfB Stuttgart. Before the game, coach Nuri Sahin said: “We never want to or can perform like that again.” It was a day in which we had no faith at all, from start to finish. To put it simply, everything needs to get better.”

There wasn’t much to see in the first half hour – but even more so at the end!
