Travis Scott’s mixtape sees a 4,600% increase in sales

Travis Scott is back at the top of the Billboard 200 this week. His decades-old mixtape days before the rodeo shoots up more than 100 places and lands at number 1 on the list of the country’s most consumed albums for the first time. The set is becoming increasingly popular thanks to a shipment of many thousands of copies of the title that have just been sent out into the world.

days before the rodeo In recent years, 150,000 copies have been sold in America. That’s up 4,608% from the week before, when just under 3,200 copies were sold, according to figures from Luminate.

Which led to such a massive increase in pure purchases of days before the rodeo? The mixtape was made available for sale on vinyl and was purchased by more than 100,000 fans within a few days. All of these sales count towards this week’s chart, as the vinyl edition was recently shipped to those who clicked “buy” online.

billboard counts sales of albums and songs when they are delivered to fans or at least sent to them by mail. Sometimes consumers purchase a track — perhaps in a physical format, which can be delayed for weeks or even months — and their efforts don’t count toward the artist’s chart placement until the CDs or vinyl copies are actually on the way to them .

days before the rodeo Conquers the vinyl albums in this frame with ease. The track lands on the list of the country’s best-selling vinyl-only projects for the first time, bringing Scott back to the top for the second time in his career.

Over on the Billboard 200, days before the rodeo is Scott’s fourth champion. The set moved 156,000 equivalent units last week. This number is almost 1,300% higher than before when it fell down the list. Only 6,000 of those units aren’t actual sales, as fans of the Grammy-nominated star are still streaming the project and purchasing individual tracks from its tracklist.

days before the rodeo debuted almost a month ago at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Scott lost to another No. 1 by just 1,000 units, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short and sweet managed to win the week. This pop album dominated for three frames, and now it has stepped back to allow its competition a moment in the spotlight.
