A 4-year-old was killed in a fatal accident in Catawba County on Thursday

A four-year-old died in a car crash in Catawba County on Thursday, according to a news release from the NC State Highway Patrol.

The crash involved a 2008 GMC Acadia driven by Lyndsey Nicole Gaddis, 32, and a 2022 GMC Yukon driven by Tiffany Miner Sipe, 34, according to the release.

In heavy rain, Gaddis was driving on Boggs Road near Hunsucker Drive in Catawba County with a 4-year-old and a 12-year-old in the car. According to the release, Gaddis crossed the center line around 8:20 a.m. and collided head-on with Sipe.

There was a 2-year-old child and a 4-year-old child in Sipe’s car, the release said.

Gaddis was taken to a hospital by emergency medical services with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the press release. According to the press release, the four-year-old died in Gaddis’ car. The 12-year-old is taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to the press release, Sipe was also taken to a hospital by emergency medical services with non-life-threatening injuries. The 2-year-old child in Sipe’s car is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, and the 4-year-old child had non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.

“Initial investigations indicate that impairment did not contribute to the collision,” the release said. “Possible charges are pending completion of the ongoing investigation and consultation with the Catawba County District Attorney’s Office. Boggs Road was closed in the area for approximately two hours while we investigated at the scene.”
