Helene’s tail is blowing from the south-southwest on our winds and that will help temperatures rise into the 90s across South Florida, but will feel like they’re in the triple digits. For this reason, Palm Beach Broward and Miami-Dade are under a heat advisory until early evening.

The forecast for us is improving overall. Winds will gradually ease throughout the day with the possibility of rainfall from the outermost feeder belts of Helene. However, saltwater flooding is possible in the Florida Keys today.

Drier air moves in through the weekend and it should be mostly sunny and very steamy.

Today in the tropics

Helene continues to weaken, producing damaging gusty winds and major flooding around the southeastern and southern Appalachians. A flash flood emergency is in effect for the Atlanta metropolitan area.

It is currently not often that a very large area is affected by flash flood disasters. This is due to Tropical Storm #Helene continuing to bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the Southeast.

Rest of the tropics…

1. Next week, low pressure will build in the Caribbean Sea and organize in the Gulf.

2. Low pressure halfway between the Cape Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles could soon develop into a storm.
3. Low pressure could prevail in the eastern Atlantic next week, with little chance of developing.

Have a wonderful weekend in South Florida and make it safe!
