Trump claims the audience went “crazy” for him at his debate with Harris – but there was no audience

Donald Trump was slammed for claiming the audience “went crazy for him” at the presidential debate with Kamala Harris – despite there being no live audience.

The former president often claims that his crowd is huge – even wildly claiming that he drew a larger crowd than Martin Luther King Jr. at the March on Washington – but this time he seemed to go even further by claiming , there would be one at all.

Appears on Wednesday’s episode of Gutfeld!, Trump struck ABC NewsThe debate moderators argued that they had “corrected virtually everything I said.”

“They didn’t correct her once. And they corrected me on practically everything I said. I think nine times or 11 times,” he told Greg Gutfeld.

Trump then referred to the non-existent audience.

“And the audience absolutely loved it,” he said.

The rules of the September 10 debate included that there would be no live audience, that candidates’ microphones were turned off when they were not answering questions and that they were not allowed to wear earbuds.

Social media went into an uproar following Trump’s comments on the Fox News show.

“Um… uh… what audience?” wrote one X user.

Another claimed the comments suggested Trump was suffering from cognitive decline: “Delusive, senile.”

Someone else suggested a reason for the presidential candidate’s apparent confusion: “No audience, but you could hear people in the room laughing at ‘They eat the dogs…’ I think it was the crew.”

In a conversation with Gutfeld, Trump later referred to the debate’s TV ratings.

“We had 75 million viewers, something like that, and you have to do it well,” he said.

It’s unclear whether Trump was referring to TV ratings when he spoke of the “crazy” audience.

Trump also reiterated that he had a “great debate” despite the results of polls and comments from members of his own party.

“I walked away saying, ‘That was a great debate, I loved it.’ You know a lot of people are watching,” he said.

After the debate, Trump quickly claimed he “won.”

But even some of his closest GOP allies acknowledged that Harris had the edge.

“Make no mistake, Trump had a bad night,” Brit Hume said on Fox News at the time.

“We heard so many of the old grievances that for a long time we thought Trump had learned that they were not political winners,” he added.

A CNN snap poll conducted by SSRS found that 63 percent of registered voters thought Harris won — nearly twice as many as those who thought Trump won (37 percent).

Also on Gutfeld!, Trump claimed Harris’ Vice President Tim Walz called the former president during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and asked the then-president to tell his supporters they were friends after they surrounded his house.

“He called years ago, I was at the White House, and he said, ‘My house is surrounded by people with American flags,'” Trump said, adding that he responded, “Is that a good thing or a bad thing.” ?” ? He said, ‘I think they’re going to attack me.'”

The Republican presidential candidate continued: “He said, ‘Could you say I’m your friend?'”

“I don’t even know him, but that was the only time I ever spoke to him,” he added, claiming he made a post praising Walz on Twitter, now known as X to protect him.
