Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott impresses in win against Giants

The Dallas Cowboys offense came to life with their win on Thursday night against the New York Giants. This life doesn’t last throughout the game, but that’s a topic for another day. This is a winner’s day and the Cowboys have bought themselves time to breathe.

One of the highlights of Thursday night’s win was clearly Dak Prescott and the form in which he played. Prescott finished 22 of 27 for 221 yards with two touchdowns on the night. His completion rate above expectations was +14.7%, so it was an extremely efficient night in which he made a whole lot of lemonade with what he had on hand.

The thing is, it was a remarkable Efficient night for Prescott. According to Next Gen Stats (kudos to NFL Pro), Prescott completed 13 of 14 passes completed in under 2.5 seconds. These specific throws accounted for 143 of his total yards and both included touchdowns.

When it comes to these games specifically, Prescott’s completion percentage was above expectations at +21.2%. Once again it was an extremely efficient evening for him.

The win was Prescott’s most recent win against the Giants, in fact his 13th in a row. The Cowboys have now won 14 of their last 15 games against their division rivals, with their only loss coming in the 2020 season finale when Prescott was not in the starting lineup. New York last defeated a Prescott-led Cowboys team when Dak was a rookie (they beat Dallas that year).

A big reason for Prescott’s success was the reemergence of CeeDee Lamb. He had quite a night.

As previously mentioned, this was far from the Dallas Cowboys’ prettiest win. But the win column isn’t about style points. Dallas will wake up victorious on Friday morning with plenty of time to figure out the rest going forward.
