Sporting a cowboy hat and boots, Post Malone stood still in a Brandon Aubrey jersey while the Dallas kicker gave the famous singer his autograph on a replica No. 17 jersey.

The veteran NFL player and the Cowboys superfan appeared to meet for the first time on the sidelines at MetLife before Thursday’s game against the New York Giants.

Aubrey and Malone exchanged a handshake and hug after the signing was complete. Many photographers and other spectators had surrounded the pair as Aubrey continued his pregame warm-ups.

Of note, Aubrey hit a 60-yard field goal on Thursday, which is now a common sight for Cowboys fans.

Earlier in his career, he extended his NFL record to 15 consecutive field goals of at least 50 yards without a miss and broke a franchise record last week with a 65-yarder.

There’s a big problem for the Cowboys. Aubrey doesn’t get enough opportunities for shorter shots, ones from 32-33 yards for extra points, especially if they don’t reach the end zone until they’re in catch-up mode.

Aubrey’s 65-yard kick in the first quarter of a 28-25 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday was the second-longest in NFL history by one yard.

He added a 51-yarder just before halftime, but the Cowboys (1-2) trailed by 22 points before three touchdowns in the final 9 minutes – twice trying and failing on 2-point conversions before Aubrey made a PAT could kick.

“I just go out there and take what’s asked of me,” Aubrey said earlier this week. “I can’t choose the kicks you get, so you go out there and take them.”

The second-year kicker is tied for the NFL lead this season in making all 10 of his field goal attempts, half of which are at least 50 yards. Pittsburgh Steelers veteran Chris Boswell is 10 of 11 this season, completing all four of his shots between 50 and 59 yards.

“Right now, you feel like they’re just automatic for him,” kick returner and receiver KaVontae Turpin said of Aubrey.

The 29-year-old former Major League Soccer prospect and Notre Dame football player, who the Cowboys discovered in the USFL last year, scored a 66-yarder at the end of the first half in the opening game in Cleveland. This free kick was taken after the final whistle due to a delay in the game. Dallas coaches considered whether Aubrey should go for it in the 71st minute, but changed their minds when the Browns put a returner in the end zone.

Tucker, who played all 198 of his NFL games in 13 seasons with the Ravens, missed a 46-yard attempt wide left in the fourth quarter.

Aubrey’s 15 field goals of at least 50 yards in just 20 games are already more than half of the Cowboys’ career record of 27, set by Dan Bailey from 2011 to 2017. Aubrey has 192 points on 46 of 48 field goals with 54 PATs, including 35 already this season.

“I just want to go out and do my job and make sure they can rely on me,” he said. “You just want to be part of the team, a positive part of the team.”
