The Florida sheriff is asking residents who refused to evacuate to write information on the body after landing in Helene to help identify it

TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WDHN) – Taylor County, Florida residents who defied mandatory evacuation orders were ordered by the sheriff to write their name and date of birth on their arm or leg so they can be identified later.

This order comes as Hurricane Helene approaches within inches of the Florida coast. It is expected to make landfall between Big Bend and the Panhandle as a category four hurricane.

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office also directed residents to do so e-mail the following information to help search and rescue teams optimize their operations:

  • Is the residence inland or on the coast?

  • Full address of residence

  • Your name

  • Name(s) of the resident(s) at this location

  • Number of individuals and animals present

  • Contact information for yourself and the resident(s).

  • Any additional information, such as: B. a recent photo of the person(s), disabilities or special requirements.

Taylor County is about an hour southeast of Tallahassee and two and a half hours
