Barstool owner Dave Portnoy offers $3 million to make Michigan a top 10 QB every year

First semester Michigan Wolverines Head Coach Sherron Moore has grappled with questions about the quarterback position early in his tenure. Fortunately, there is one diehard Wolverines fan ready to solve this problem.

Dave Portnoy, the owner of Barstool, is a famous Michigan fan who is committed to improving his team’s quarterback play. He is now putting his words into action, offering between $1 million and $3 million for a ZERO Deal to help the Michigan Wolverines Secure one of the top 10 available quarterbacks each season.

This comes in the midst of a season where QB play has been a problem for Michigan. After winning a national championship last season with JJ McCarthy under the middle, the Wolverines have already started to both Davis Warren And Alex Orji behind the middle, although both have problems at times.

“Michigan, I’ll be your quarterback,” Dave Portnoy said. “I’ll talk to Sherrone (Moore): ‘Who do you want? Who’s there?’ Give me a group. I’ll sign them. $1 million. $2 million. Whatever it is… $3 million.”

For Portnoy, the conversation came up during a back and forth with Dan “Big Cat” Katz, who joked that he would do the same for Wisconsinhis alma mater. This prompted Portnoy to explain in more detail how his NIL deal would work.

“I can get a quarterback. We don’t have a quarterback. If I don’t get the number one pick … I’m going to get us a top-10 quarterback in the portal that comes out every year. Top-10 quarterback and then there’s a little problem,” Portnoy said.

“They have to look for something else, because they do a weekly spot on Excuse my opinion. My guy, not your guy, my guy. He’s already taken. So you’ll have to come up with something else for the guy from Wisconsin. But college football throwback, a college football hit. So, there’s two things. $3 million marketing deal. I think that’s legal.”

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, that $3 million NIL number from Portnoy would put any quarterback Michigan gets in the top five highest-rated NIL ratings. On3 NIL100.

“The going rate for a quarterback in the elite transfer portal is $1 million, but that’s just the floor. Several quarterbacks signed contracts worth over $1 million per year from NIL collectives this past offseason,” said On3 NIL expert Pete Nakos. “Getting a quarterback for $3 million would be an outlier in the portal unless it’s a multi-year deal and Portnoy is trying to land a high-level quarterback recruit.”

There are also relatively few players who have an On3 NIL rating of over $1 million, let alone $3 million. In fact On3 NIL100Currently, only 22 quarterbacks are valued at over $1 million.

The On3 NIL Rating is the industry-leading index that establishes the standard market NIL value for high school and college athletes. The On3 NIL Rating is a proprietary algorithm that determines the total NIL market and projected 12-month growth rate for an athlete by measuring two categories: Squad value And ZERO.

The majority of the money athletes earn is based on their Roster Value. Roster Value collects data from all scholastic teams, players and agents using a proprietary roster management algorithm. NIL Value measures the licensing and sponsorship market based on social media presence and influence. Roster Value and NIL combine to create the overall On3 NIL Rating.

Only two quarterbacks, Colorado‘S Shedeur Sanders And TexasArch Manningare currently worth more than $3 million. Longhorns Starter Quinn Ewers is just behind Manning with a valuation of $2.2 million. Ohio State Transfer quarterback Will Howard is worth $1.3 million.

Other quarterbacks with high ratings are Alabama‘S Jalen Milroe (2.2 million US dollars), Ole MissJaxson Dart (2.1 million US dollars) and Miami‘S Cam Ward (US$1.9 million).

Some quarterbacks also come to college with a high NIL rating; three of the best high school quarterbacks currently have a rating of over a million dollars. Nebraska First semester Dylan RaiolaFor example, it has a valuation of $1.3 million. Tennessee Second semester Nico Iamaleava is worth $1.9 million.

If Portnoy is willing to invest up to $3 million a year to ensure Michigan has a top quarterback, there will be options in the future.
