Ringo Starr cancels tour dates due to illness

The drummer’s doctors advised him to rest and cancel his final performances in Philadelphia and New York City.

Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band have canceled the last two shows of their North American summer tour after the former Beatle caught a cold.

The two shows were scheduled to take place tonight, September 24, in Philadelphia and tomorrow, September 25, in New York City. Ticket holders can request a refund at the point of purchase.

“Ringo has caught a cold and after consulting a doctor he has been advised to cancel the two remaining shows and rest,” reads a note on the drummer’s Instagram page. “As always, Ringo and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them again soon.”

Starr and the All Starr Band have been touring for much of the year, playing the West Coast and Mexico in the spring while appearing at the Venetian in Las Vegas. Their fall tour began just a few weeks ago on September 12 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Earlier this year, Starr released a new solo EP, Crooked Boy. It was created in collaboration with Linda Perry, who wrote and produced every song on the four-track project. The pair first worked together in 2021, when Perry recorded “Coming Undone” for Starr’s Change the world EP. At an event with Perry earlier this year, Starr called her “the great songwriter,” while Perry talked about getting the chance to collaborate with one of her musical heroes.

“I grew up with this incredible music of the Beatles,” she said (via Far out). And I grew up with Ringo and he was always my favorite because I thought he was the most charming and funny. And he is the kindest, most charming, funniest person and full of love. There’s a lot of love coming from that guy.”
