Surviving both was “truly a miracle”

Former First Lady Melania Trump recalled how she learned about the two assassination attempts on her husband in an exclusive conversation on “Fox & Friends,” her first television interview in more than two years.

“I ran to the TV, rewound and watched it,” she said, referring to the assassination attempt on former President Trump that was broadcast live on television at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in mid-July.

“I didn’t actually see it live, but maybe, you know, three minutes, a couple of minutes later. But when I saw it, it was, you know, just… Nobody really knew. Because when you see him lying on the ground and you don’t know what really happened,” she told “Fox & Friends” co-host Ainsley Earhardt.

Potential assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks fired several shots at the former president from the roof of a building about 120 meters away before he was shot dead by a sniper.

Melania Trump said she was in New York City when the second assassination attempt occurred on September 15, while her husband was playing golf at his club in West Palm Beach.

“I saw it on TV and as soon as I saw it on TV, I called again and he was OK because the Secret Service was great,” she said. “The guys, the team, they were fantastic. And I think both events were really miracles. When you really think about it, July 13 was a miracle. Like… so much, and he couldn’t, you know, he couldn’t be with us.”

The former First Lady has posted a series of clips on social media ahead of the release of her memoir of the same name, “Melania,” which is due out in early October.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) on September 10, she demanded more answers after her husband was nearly killed.

“I wonder why the police didn’t arrest the shooter before the speech,” she asked. “There is definitely more to the story and we need to find out the truth.”

The bipartisan Trump Assassination Task Force will hold its first public hearing on Thursday, detailing the security failures that nearly led to the assassination of a former president and current presidential candidate.

The full interview with Melania Trump is scheduled to air on “Fox & Friends” on Thursday morning.
