Florida airports face delays, closures and cancellations as Hurricane Helene draws closer – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

(WSVN) – Hurricane Helene is disrupting air traffic at Florida’s major airports. There are reports of cancellations and delays at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Miami International Airport. Other airports have also announced closures ahead of the hurricane.

So far, five flights have been cancelled at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, including destinations such as the Bahamas, Cancun and Boston.

Some passengers are desperately trying to correct their flight plans.

“We’re trying to figure it out. Yes, we’re trying to figure it out right now to see if we can go somewhere, but it doesn’t look good,” said one traveler.

In addition, six flights were delayed.

Miami International Airport is also experiencing significant travel issues as some flights are unable to arrive or depart the airport.

At Miami International Airport, eight flights are currently canceled and nine are delayed.

Further west, Tampa International Airport announced closed to the public from 2amThursday, and reopen when it is safe.

Tallahassee International Airport will suspend operations Thursday and resume when it is safe to do so, airport officials said.

Travelers are advised to confirm their flight status before arriving at the airport.
