The early team news of FPL game week 6

With nine Premier League teams in midweek cup action at home or abroad, there is plenty of injury news to sift through ahead of Gameweek 6.

The pre-match press conferences on Thursday and Friday will of course tell us more about the injuries. We will have article summaries on both days and, as usual, a video summary.

In the meantime, this first overview gives an overview of all 20 teams in the Premier League.

As the deadline approaches, check the Team News tab and Injuries & Suspensions page for more information.

Injury news from Gameweek 6

NEWCASTLE UNITED VS MANCHESTER CITY

The most important news from Manchester City’s team camp this week concerns Rodri (Knee).

The Spaniard, who missed Sunday’s draw with Arsenal, is expected to be out for a long period of time, which media reports suggest could mean the end of the season, but City have not yet given a timetable for that.

“Manchester City FC can confirm that Rodri has suffered a ligament injury to his right knee.

“The injury occurred during the first half of the 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

“The midfielder travelled to Spain this week to undergo specialist advice following initial tests in Manchester.

“The assessment is ongoing to determine the full extent of the injury and the expected prognosis.” – Manchester City club statement on Wednesday

“We still don’t have a final (answer)… it will take a long time, a while.” – Pep Guardiola on Tuesday

Rodri joins Oscar Bob (leg) and Nathan Ake (thigh) on the injury list at City.

Kevin De Bruyne (thigh) is not expected to be out for long, but Gameweek 6 may come too soon.

“I don’t know, I don’t know. Yesterday I didn’t train, today I didn’t see him, so I don’t know.” – Pep Guardiola spoke on Tuesday about Kevin De Bruyne’s chances of playing against Newcastle

Jamaal Lascelles (Knee), Sven Botman (knee) and Lewis Miley (back) is out for the long term for the Magpies.

Callum Wilson (back) is unlikely to return before the international break in October.
