Showers on Thursday with a WVLT First Alert Weather Day

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Thursday will start off rainy, with heavy rain moving across parts of the region. The weather will change little in the afternoon.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We’ll be dealing with heavy downpours and showers throughout Thursday, with another 1 inch of rain possible in some areas.

Rain will stay with us into the evening as well. Watch for potential flooding as the evening approaches. Spotting flooded roads can be more dangerous at night. Remember, “Turn around, don’t drown” if you see a flooded road. The First Alert Weather Day includes not only rain showers that could lead to a flooding threat, but also gusty winds. Winds will increase to near 30 mph this evening.

OUTLOOK

The heavy rain and storms will continue on Friday. Some areas could see 1 to 2 inches more rain on Friday before it is all over. These tropical rains will include gusts of up to 40 to 50 km/h at times in the valley and stronger in the mountains.

Saturday will be drier as the remnants of Helene move westward. It cannot be ruled out that there will be more rain.
