Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers for the Chicago PD season 12 premiere, “Ten Ninety-Nine.”

Intelligence is busy when Chicago Police Season 12 begins, but as the characters fly by and solve cases left and right, One person is apparently missing: Officer Kim Burgess. Marina Squerciati’s character is nowhere to be seen in the entire episode. Instead, Sergeant Hank Voight, Officer Kevin Atwater, Officer Adam Ruzek, Officer Dante Torres and the young Detective Emily Martel take care of the cases that are being investigated during the Chicago Police Premiere of the 12th season.

After Voight’s near-death experience and the departure of Detective Hailey Upton during the Chicago Police In the finale of season 11, the members of the Intelligence Unit are busy. Well, Voight keeps everyone busy so he doesn’t have to deal with his own problems. Voight is clearly not coping well with his recovery, Upton’s departure, or hallucinations of Alvin Olinsky while he’s on the brink of death. Unfortunately, Voight is also missing one of his top officers during all of this.

Burgess is at a conference in the premiere of the 12th season of “Chicago PD”

Marina Squerciati does not appear in the episode

At the start Chicago Police Season 12, Episode 1, “Ten Ninety-Nine”, Ruzek gives the audience a clue as to where Burgess is during the episode. Burgess is not with the secret service and is in Chicago because she is attending a conference. After a phone call with his fiancée, Atwater asks Burgess how he is doing at the conference. The viewer doesn’t learn much more, however, and unfortunately it is unclear how long Marina Squerciati’s A Chicago Character is gone in Chicago Police or when she will come back.

However, Ruzek informs Atwater and Martel that Burgess is considering returning to Chicago early. She has heard about their heavy caseload and presumably wants to return to Intelligence to help. Despite this, Burgess apparently cannot be persuaded to return sooner (or Ruzek assures her that they can handle it and convinces her to stay at the conference). Therefore, Squerciati never appears in the Season 12 premiere of the A Chicago television show.

Why Burgess is missing from the premiere of the 12th season of “Chicago PD”

The secret service is inundated with cases

The exact reasons why Burgess is at a conference and not helping the secret service with the overwhelming number of cases will be revealed during the Chicago Police episode. The audience never finds out if Burgess wanted to go to the conference or if she was invited. Martel comments that Burgess should stay because the CPD (Chicago Police Department) would expect her to. So, Burgess may represent the CPD at this conference. Her role there would be quite significant and meaningful. However, Burgess’ colleagues are overloaded with numerous tragic cases where they could use her help.

Of course, the main problem regarding the Intelligence Agency’s caseload can be traced back to Voight. He is the one who is busy with the work, so Voight’s actions directly affect his team and their ability to solve the various cases that land on their desks. Hopefully, this will change in the future and Burgess can return to a quieter intelligence unit In Chicago Police Season 12.

When will Burgess return to the secret service?

Marina Squerciati should not be gone long

The good news is that Burgess will not be away from Chicago for very long (especially after the Chicago Police the tragic end of the premiere of the 12th season). It is not clear at first why Marina Squerciati did not repeat her role in the first episode, but she is not one of the A Chicago Actors who will not be returning in 2024. So viewers should expect Burgess to return in Episode 2. Conferences usually don’t last that long, and Burgess will undoubtedly want to be there for her fiancé after Martel’s death.

At the end Chicago Police Season 12, Episode 1, Ruzek and Martel are driving when they hear gunshots. The two characters, who attended the police academy together, get out of the car, draw their weapons and search for the source of the gunshots. While Ruzek is able to hide behind a car, Martel is not so lucky when the gunshots ring out again. Ruzek turns around and sees Martel lies on the ground with a bullet hole in his head. Martel’s death will undoubtedly hit Ruzek hard, and Burgess should be there to comfort him Chicago Police Season 12.
