Caitlin Clark’s first WNBA season is over.

The Indiana Fever were eliminated by the Connecticut Sun 87-81 in a thrilling second game of the first round of the WNBA playoffs on Wednesday night.

Clark finished the game with 25 points on 10 of 23 shooting, along with nine assists and six rebounds.

The loss ended Clark’s record-breaking, headline-grabbing rookie season that helped bring new fans to the WNBA.

Although the Fever overcame an 11-point deficit to take the lead early in the fourth quarter, Connecticut’s DeWanna Bonner, playing on equal terms with Clark, scored two consecutive crucial baskets that helped the Sun regain the lead late in the game.

A layup by Bonner tied the game at 75-75 with 2:24 left, and after Indiana’s Aliyah Boston gave the Fever a two-point lead, Bonner sank a 3-pointer to give the Sun a 78-77 lead with 1:50 left.

Marina Mabrey extended the lead to four points, and two free throws from Bonner with 23 seconds left made the Sun’s series-deciding victory all but perfect.
