David Raya doubtful to play for Arsenal against Leicester City due to thigh injury

David Raya’s participation in Arsenal’s Premier League match against Leicester City on Saturday is uncertain due to injury.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper missed Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday due to a thigh injury. He was replaced by 16-year-old Jack Porter.

When asked if Raya would be fit enough for the game against Leicester, Mikel Arteta replied: “We don’t know yet.”

Raya played the full 90 minutes of Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City last Sunday, but was later seen leaving the Etihad Stadium with an apparent limp after sustaining an injury during the match.

Summer signing Neto, who was suspended for Wednesday’s cup tie after previously playing for Bournemouth in the competition, could make his Arsenal debut if Raya is unavailable.

Mikel Arteta named five teenagers, including 16-year-old Porter, as Arsenal beat League One Bolton to book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, before travelling to Preston North End in the next round.

After the draw at City on Sunday, Arsenal are fourth in the table, having picked up eleven points from their first five games.

The north Londoners welcome Paris Saint-Germain to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday in the second matchday of the Champions League before returning to the Premier League a week from now against Southampton on Saturday.
