Mike Lindell is baffled by ‘Nazi claims’ about MyPillow prices

Mike Lindell has defended himself against claims that the price of his new MyPillow was inadvertently linked to neo-Nazi propaganda.

Lindell spoke to the New York Post following Newsweekabout Lindell’s MyPillow advertisement, in which he sets a price for his standard Classic Pillow that is reminiscent of neo-Nazi slogans.

Lindell said The publisher: “I have no idea what this is about.”

On September 20, MyPillow released an ad reducing the retail price of the pillows from $29.99 to an even lower price of $14.88.

This price attracted the attention of both historians and online neo-Nazis, as the numbers 14 and 88 are considered identifying symbols in white supremacist circles.

The number 88 is used as an abbreviation for “Heil Hitler” because “H” is the eighth letter of the alphabet. The number 14 refers to the “14-word slogan” of David Lane, a member of the white supremacist group “The Order.” Lane, who died in prison after serving 190 years for organized crime and civil rights violations, said, “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.”

Lindell said The publisher that the price of 88 cents is a common price used by companies like Walmart.

He added: “(The award) had nothing to do with whatever you want to make of it.” He then insisted that the attacks on his award were retaliation for his election claims.

“This whole thing is another attack on Mike Lindell and MyPillow because I want to move to hand-counted ballots in our country.”

Mike Lindell was contacted by Newsweek by email for a comment.

Lindell has repeatedly denied the results of the 2020 election, losing $5 million after declaring he would pay that amount to anyone who could refute his claim that the election was “rigged” in favor of Joe Biden.

Computer forensics expert Robert Ziedman managed to prove Lindell’s account of “election manipulation” to be false, after which Lindell was forced to hand over the money in 2024.

Lindell is also currently involved in a lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems for allegedly defaming the company. He denies any wrongdoing.

When the price for MyPillow was announced, history professor Seth Cotlar of Willamette University in Oregon wrote on his Bluesky account: “I doubt Lindell was behind this or would even understand the allusion, but it doesn’t matter.”

Although Lindell insisted he knew nothing of the award’s ties to white supremacy, the ad was liked and reposted by numerous neo-Nazi accounts online, meaning that even if the ad was purely coincidental, it was picked up by white supremacist circles.

A neo-Nazi account called Balknomic reposted the ad and wrote: “14.88? How could you pass up such a great deal?”

Another account called “Chud Posting,” which frequently posts memes of neo-Nazis and the alt-right, reposted the ad with the comment: “Pillows at an Aryan price. Billions have to buy them. Totally sweet dreams.”

The phrase “Billions Must Buy” is a play on the alt-right meme “Billions Must Die,” which is commonly found on neo-Nazi forums.

The sale ad is still listed on MyPillow’s social media accounts. It was posted twice on their X and Facebook accounts.

The second ad on Facebook appeared 20 hours ago, the second ad on X appeared on September 23 at 9:27 a.m. EDT, 20 minutes after Newsweek published the first article detailing the award’s connection to white supremacist groups.
