Who joined Team Snoop? – Deseret News

After serving as the unofficial mascot of the Olympic Games in Paris, Snoop Dogg is now embarking on his next adventure: he is a coach on “The Voice” for the first time.

The rapper made his debut as a coach during the premiere of the 26th season of “Voice” and has already won three singers for his team.

Here’s a look at the singers Snoop Dogg recruited for Season 26.

Note: This story will be updated throughout the season.

“The Voice”: Who is on Team Snoop?

Jake Tankersley

Jake Tankersley’s performance of Zach Bryan’s “Something in the Orange” had all four “Voice” coaches fighting over him. While country music legend Reba McEntire was the obvious choice for Tankersley, Gwen Stefani decided to use her block to prevent the “Fancy” singer from snagging the “Voice” contestant.

So it was up to the other coaches to make their points. Stefani noted that she is more interested in country music because of her marriage to country star Blake Shelton. Buble mentioned that he has sung with Dolly Parton and was one of the songwriters behind Shelton’s No. 1 hit “Home.”

But in the end, the singer from Oklahoma decided on Snoop Dogg.

“I love country music,” said Snoop Dogg. “And I’ve made records with Willie Nelson, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban and Hank Williams Jr. If you were on my team, it would shake the world!”

ChrisDeo

One of the most heartwarming auditions of the night came from 16-year-old ChrisDeo, who sang “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz.

After her performance, which caught the attention of Bublé and Snoop Dogg, the 16-year-old began to cry. With a little help from the coaches, she then explained that she was a street singer from Queens, New York, and was not used to receiving a lot of praise.

“People laugh at me when I sing,” she told the four coaches, who smiled at her. “Everyone was so happy to see me, I had never felt anything like that before.”

Buble mentioned that he was 16 or 17 years old when he started playing in clubs. People also didn’t pay to hear him sing, he said. Instead, his grandfather, who was a plumber, traded free plumbing work with club owners and musicians to let him in so he could perform.

Although ChrisDeo was visibly touched by the trainers’ kind words, she ultimately decided to join Snoop Dogg’s team.

“When I heard your first note, I knew I had to turn around and push the button,” Snoop Dogg said. “And then to hear your story – because you had the confidence to come here and sing after saying they laughed at you, but we couldn’t hear that. You are strong. You have a gift.”

Torre Blake

Torre Blake comes from a family of athletes – her father Jeff Blake was a quarterback in the NFL for 14 years. But Torre Blake is pursuing a career as a musician and has taken her next step by making it to “The Voice.”

After Blake’s performance of Erykah Badu’s “On & On,” the Austin, Texas singer had her choice between Stefani and Snoop Dogg. All of the coaches praised her artistry and style, but with a little help from her father, who accompanied her onstage, Blake chose Snoop Dogg.
