The Colorado Rockies are once again on the verge of a potential sweep for the second year in a row and will look to make that win different from the series they played against the Chicago Cubs. With 59 wins this year, the Rockies have matched their 2023 win total, giving them a good chance of avoiding 100 losses with 10 games left in the year.

Austin Gomber (5-10, 4.44 ERA) will make his second start for the Rockies after his paternity leave. In his last outing, Gomber allowed two runs on nine hits in six strong innings against the Cubs and will now face a strong Diamondbacks lineup. Making his 29th start this year, Gomber has a chance to set a new career high in strikeouts in what was already his best year as a starter. He has set career highs in starts and innings pitched and could have the best ERA of his career.

The Diamondbacks counter with veteran left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (2-3, 5.50 ERA). Since his season debut in early August, Rodriguez has been trying to find his footing in a less than ideal season. Results have been mixed to say the least, and his first few starts in September have been less than impressive. He has pitched five innings in just one start this month, allowing 10 runs in 13 innings. His last start was an improvement, allowing two runs in five innings with seven strikeouts and three walks.
