Prince collaborator Cat Glover dies at the age of 60

Prince’s former choreographer, singer, dancer and rapper Catherine “Cat” Glover has died at the age of 60 from unknown causes.

The news was shared on Glover’s official Facebook page today. “It is with great sadness that we officially announce the passing of Catherine Vernice Glover – aka ‘Cat’,” the statement read. “Please grant her children, family and friends privacy during this difficult time. A further statement will be released in due course.”

Glover acted as choreographer, dancer, singer and rapper on Prince’s tours Sign O’ the Times 1987 and Lovesexy 1988-1989. She is in the 1987 Signs of the times Concert film and on the 1989 Lovesexy Live radio and home video. She also appears on his 1988 album Lovesexywith a catchy rap on the album’s debut single “Alphabet St.” Glover also appears on his Black Album, which was originally scheduled for a 1987 release but was shelved and released for a limited time in 1994.

“I’ve always idolized him, and it’s not an intimate thing, it’s just… he’s great. I don’t think there’s anyone who can be as creative as he can – dancing, playing all his instruments,” Glover said in 1987 of her admiration for Prince. Video Soul Interview. “I actually sat in the studio and watched him do everything on his own and I just thought, ‘My God, he’s incredible, really.'”
