Simone Biles’ “Gold Over America Tour” combines gymnastics and life wisdom: “Have confidence”

At the end of last month, gymnastics superstar Simone Biles posted a photo of herself on Instagram next to her 11 Olympic medals, including the three gold and one silver medal she won at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

“My 6 year old self would be proud 🥹🤎🤞🏾,” read the caption.

This week, the seven-time Olympic champion is on the first leg of her 30-city arena tour, aptly named the “Gold Over America Tour” – GOAT stands for “Greatest of All Time.”

Biles’s trip across the United States gives her the opportunity to send a message to the six-year-olds in the audience whose Olympic dreams are as big as hers.

“Just have fun and do what you love and just have confidence,” Biles said in an exclusive interview with Olympics.com on Friday.

The two-hour spectacle combines gymnastics with dance, creating what Biles called a pop concert-like experience.

“This kind of made it worse,” Biles said.

The 2024 edition will be the second season of the show, which first aired following the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Back then, the focus was on the importance of prioritizing one’s mental health after Biles made the brave decision to withdraw from several individual finals in Japan due to “nerve issues.”

In the three years since, Biles has spoken openly about her mental health, including talking about therapy sessions she underwent before competing in her third Olympic Games. Her arena show after the Paris Olympics reflects that journey.

“Of course we wanted to tell the story that it’s okay to not be okay,” Biles explained, “but this story is the result of making an effort to take care of yourself and seeing what that makes you.”

“It’s just what happens when you take care of yourself and the success that comes with that,” she continued. “And I think that’s what’s exciting about the story and what the show brings.”

The tour lasts until November 3rd and ends in Detroit, Michigan.
