Philadelphia Phillies first baseman hits his 30th home run of the season

The day before, the Philadelphia Phillies won their first National League East division title since 2011.

While many expected the club to field a hangover lineup, that was not the case. Of the regulars who play every day, only JT Realmuto got a day off, not including those who do not face left-handed pitchers.

Superstar first baseman Bryce Harper’s home run, his 30th of the season, gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Harper came to bat with no one on base and two outs.

The superstar took the first pitch he saw, a sinker down and in, and slammed the ball into the bushes in center field, resulting in a home run.

Harper, 31, has now had five seasons with 30 or more home runs in his career, three of them with Philadelphia.

His batting average on the season is currently .286/.373/.532 with 30 home runs and 87 RBI.

The Phillies had problems on the mound in the second inning. Opening hitter Tanner Banks loaded the bases before leaving the game for reliever Taijuan Walker.

It doesn’t seem like he can hold on to the early lead, but Harper has done his part so far in this game.

Philadelphia wants to secure one of the top two spots in the National League and hopes to secure home-court advantage in the playoffs.

With five games still to go, including today’s, they have plenty of time to do so.
