Capcom announces Monster Hunter Wilds release date in State of Play trailer

Capcom appeared at State of Play in September 2024 and brought with them the release date of Monster Hunter Wilds. Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28, 2025 for PS5, PC via Steam, and Xbox Series X|S, and pre-orders for the digital versions are now available.

As is usual with Monster Hunter, you’ll receive a few cosmetic items when you pre-order. This time, it’s a Guild Knight Set and a Hope Charm Talisman that you can wear while exploring.

The Monster Hunter Wilds release date trailer is a big, cinematic thing that highlights some of the jungles, rivers, and deserts of the new continent, with hammer-wielding Palicoes and even a glimpse of MH Wilds’ flagship monster: The White Wraith. Capcom hasn’t said for sure that it’s the flagship monster, but in a Monster Hunter game, it’s usually The Big One when it’s a titanic beast of mythical proportions that most people thought was huge.

You can see the Scarlet Forest, named after the red river that runs through it, and you can also see how the environment changes with the weather. The trailer starts with a storm swirling through the forest, but as it dissipates and the sun shines on the deceptively calm waters, it takes on a new atmosphere, and new creatures also appear. This includes the forest’s big bad, Uth Duna, an apex predator who masters the power of water.

You’ll have your trusty Palicoes on hand for support, which seems to range from gathering meat to distracting monsters to providing essential healing. The grappling hook – unfortunately no Wirebug this time – also lets you grapple onto objects in the environment to hinder enemies and even cause them to crash.

Capcom likely has a lot more in store before Monster Hunter Wilds’ release date, including more monster reveals and hopefully some more glimpses of those stunning landscapes.
