Convicted con artist Anna Delvey has responded to a social media comment about her ankle bracelet.
The Dancing with the stars The contestant, who is currently participating in the 33rd season, shared a video on Instagram in which she posed in front of the camera with her ankle bracelet clearly visible.
“DC,” Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, captioned the clip.
In the comments, Instagram user @filmgirlx_ wrote, “Oh my god her ankle bracelet is HUGE,” to which Delvey replied, “@filmgirlx_ she’s charging up.”
In an email to NewsweekDelvey revealed more details about her ankle bracelet, noting that she charges it “once a day for about 60-90 minutes.”
“The monitor comes with a dock that plugs into my home and a slide-on charger,” she said.
In 2017, Delvey was arrested for posing as a German heiress and stealing more than $200,000 from banks, hotels and other locations. In 2019, she was found guilty of eight counts of theft and sentenced to four to 12 years in prison. She was ordered to pay around $199,000 in restitution and a $24,000 fine.
“The thing is, I’m not sorry,” she said The New York Times one day after her conviction. “I would be lying to you, everyone else and myself if I said I was sorry about anything. I regret how I approached certain things.”

Delvey was released from prison in February 2021 after serving nearly four years. In March of that year, Russian-born Delvey was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa. She was released from ICE in 2022 and is currently under house arrest.

In an interview with the Related Press after the premiere of the 33rd season of Dancing with the starsDelvey commented on her ankle bracelet.
“It’s actually not a big problem at all,” she told the outlet. “It’s pretty light and I asked them to tighten it up so it doesn’t dangle. So it’s not that bad.”
Your partner, DWTS Professional Ezra Sosa added: “It’s the real star of the show, let’s be honest.”
“I find it kind of funny how people like it – it’s not an ankle weight,” he continued. “It’s not 20 pounds. It’s literally less than a pound and it’s no big deal.”
Delvey has been the target of intense backlash this season, but Sosa defended her in a message posted to his TikTok on Monday after she was found crying in the bathroom due to hurtful online comments.
“I know what she did was really controversial and not right, and I can never justify that to her or anyone in her life,” he shared. “It’s really hard for me because this person that I really fall in love with every day in rehearsals is not the person that everyone sees in the media. No one deserves the hate that she’s getting right now. She deserves a second chance.”
