Severe weather warning issued for the entire three states

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A severe weather warning is in effect for most of the FOX19 NOW broadcast area until 8 p.m.

Dangers include isolated tornadoes, light hail and destructive winds.

Much-needed rain arrived Tuesday morning, with many areas already seeing nearly 0.5 inches of rainfall. Thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty winds are possible this afternoon.

There is a slight (2/5) risk of severe storms in Mason, Lewis, and Robertson counties. The rest of the three states have a slight (1/5) risk of severe weather today.

The greatest risk of storms is between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., but persistent thunderstorms are also possible overnight and into Wednesday morning. The maximum temperatures in the extended forecast are between 21 and 25 degrees.

Tropical Storm Helene is expected to strengthen into a major hurricane later this week and make landfall in the Florida Panhandle as a Category 3 storm. The remnants of Helene will bring heavy rains and gusty winds to the Cincinnati area over the weekend.

There is a slight risk of severe storms in most parts of the tri-state area between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Heavy rain will develop Thursday night and continue through most of Friday. Much of the rain will move west of the Tri-State region on Saturday, with only lingering light showers. The remnants of the storm will return to the Tri-State region Sunday night. The rain will help counteract the drought but could affect weekend festivities.
