Robert F. Kennedy isn’t backing down after the Menéndez brothers criticized their portrayal in his new Netflix series… and while he’s at it, he’s also defending the incestuous history between the two.
The director racked his brains over the reason Eric And Lyle were so mad about “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story,” especially because he said he knew they hadn’t even seen the show.
Ryan specifically addressed Erik’s detailed criticism, telling E! News at the premiere of “Grotesquerie” that he hopes Erik actually watches the series – and added that if he does, he would be incredibly proud of Cooper Cookthe actor who plays him.
Ryan also pointed out that the show tries to uncover all the different theories about what happened before, during and after Lyle and Erik shot their wealthy parents. Jose And Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez.
One of the theories discussed on the show is that the brothers had an incestuous relationship. Ryan pointed out that some people believed this, but others did not.
Although the brothers receive life sentences, Ryan says the show is about letting the audience decide who the real monster is and hopes to spark important conversations about male sexual abuse.
As we reported … Erik was not exactly on board with this view – and sharply criticized Ryan for his “naive and inaccurate” portrayal of the brutal house murders that had made international headlines.
