Grand Rapids, MI – Thunderstorms will hit West Michigan today, bringing heavy rain and possible delays for motorists on I-96 and US-131. Commuters should expect wet conditions and reduced visibility, especially during afternoon rush hour.

The National Weather Service reports that storms are likely to continue into the evening, with temperatures ranging between 68 and 73 degrees Fahrenheit. Drivers are asked to slow down, increase following distance and turn on headlights in low visibility conditions. Wet roads can create slippery surfaces, especially at driveways and intersections, creating additional hazards.

Motorists are advised to check current road conditions before traveling. The Michigan Department of Transportation warns of possible traffic delays, especially in areas where construction is already underway. Weather warnings will remain in effect throughout the day as isolated thunderstorms continue to be forecast.

The storm is expected to dissipate by late evening, and dry and sunny conditions will return on Wednesday. Temperatures will rise above 24 degrees for the rest of the week, providing ideal travel conditions through Friday. Drivers can look forward to a quieter commute, but should be aware of lingering road moisture on Wednesday morning.
