NFL Power Rankings for Week 4: Parity Leaves Unexpected Outliers

The zeros are quickly disappearing from the NFL standings.

After the first three weeks of the regular season, only five undefeated teams and three winless teams remain.

Both clubs have the expected members… and the unexpected members.

The Chiefs and Bills are undefeated? Yawn.

The Vikings, Seahawks and Steelers are undefeated? Well, that’s more interesting.

The Titans have no wins? Of course.

The Jaguars? That’s more surprising.

The Bengals? Excuse me?

With teams being pushed to the middle due to parity, here are the Post’s Power Rankings for Week 4, which also involves finding the right spots for the undefeated and the winless:

1. Chiefs 3-0 (1)

Nick Bolton tackled Bijan Robinson for a loss on fourth down as the Chiefs completed their second red zone defensive stand in the final four minutes and cruised to a 22-17 win over the Falcons. Patrick Mahomes threw two touchdown passes and Harrison Butker converted three field goals, including one that gave the Chiefs their first lead with 9:40 left in the third quarter.

2. Invoices 3-0 (3)

All the franchise heavyweights left in the offseason, and the Bills are somehow… better? Josh Allen directed five touchdown drives in five first-half possessions, threw scores to four different players and had to attempt just two passes in the second half to beat the Jaguars 47-10. Damar Hamlin recorded his first interception just 630 days after suffering cardiac arrest on the field.

3. Vikings 3-0 (12)

Sam Darnold matched his career-high with four touchdown passes — to four different receivers, including Justin Jefferson — and the Vikings extended their win against a Super Bowl contender (49ers) with a 34-7 victory over the Texans. Jonathan Greenard sacked former teammate CJ Stroud three times. It was the Vikings’ biggest win in five years.

4. Steelers 3-0 (10)

With Russell Wilson still out, Justin Fields directed two 12-play drives that resulted in second-half field goals, then connected with Calvin Austin for a 55-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter in a 20-10 win over the Chargers. The defense allowed just 168 total yards and held three straight opponents to 10 points or less, like we were back in the 1970s.

5. Eagles 2-1 (7)

With the Eagles unable to score in the first three quarters, they turned to Saquon Barkley, who scored 65 touchdowns and four yards, stole a 15-12 victory from the Saints and redeemed himself for his crucial pass loss last week. Jalen Hurts’ two turnovers and head coach Nick Sirianni’s aversion to field goals meant many points were missed.

6. Lions 2:1 (6)

Jared Goff completed his first 14 passes – a streak that spanned the entire first half in which the Lions scored all of their points in a 20-13 win over the Cardinals. Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs combined for a hook-and-ladder touchdown. David Montgomery ran for 105 yards and scored a touchdown, eating up the final four minutes of the clock.

7. Packers 2-1 (8)

In his first game against his former team, Malik Willis, filling in for the injured Jordan Love for the second consecutive season, threw a touchdown and ran for another to lead the Packers to a 30-14 victory over the Titans. The Packers forced three turnovers, including a pick-six by Jaire Alexander, and had eight sacks for the first time in 20 seasons.

8. Texans 2-1 (2)

Stroud threw two interceptions and had four sacks in the crushing loss. The Texans have an overall record of 0-6 against the Vikings. Joe Mixon’s absence was keenly felt, although Cam Akers scored a touchdown in his first game for the Texans. Stefon Diggs’ long-delayed first return to Minnesota, where he was drafted, ended with a quiet 10 catches.

9. Jets 2-1 (9)

The once one-sided rivalry between the Jets and Patriots has turned the tide. Aaron Rodgers was in complete control, throwing 281 yards and touchdowns to Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. It was Rodgers’ first win from start to finish in front of his home crowd. Will McDonald recorded two sacks and the Jets ended a six-game losing streak on Thursday.

10. Seahawks 3-0 (14)

Zach Charbonnet ran for two touchdowns, DK Metcalf turned a bomb into a 71-yard touchdown catch and that was all the offense needed to beat the quarterback-plagued Dolphins 24-3. The defense allowed just 205 yards and sacked Skylar Thompson five times before Thompson – who was already filling in for Tua Tagovailoa – was also taken off the field. The Seahawks are 3-0 for the first time since 2020.

25. Patriots 1-2 (25)

26. Browns 1-2 (19)

27. Bengals 0-3 (20)

28. Giants 1-2 (31)

The Giants trailed by a touchdown after just 11 seconds of play, but averted disaster with first-half touchdown runs of 81 and 93 yards to rally to a 21-15 comeback win over the Browns. Daniel Jones threw two touchdown passes to Malik Nabers and the defense recorded eight sacks, including a strip sack that forced a turnover by Brian Burns.
