Mike Tyson was inundated with supportive messages from boxing fans after he emotionally admitted that he is fighting Jake Paul to show that age is just a number.
Many are writing off the heavyweight icon at the age of 58 as he prepares for his return to the ring.
After all, Paul is 31 years younger than him and recently swept Mike Perry off the field to claim the 10th victory of his professional career.
In a clip uploaded to his Instagram account, Tyson talked about the reasons for his fight against Paul.

“I want to change biology, I want to change the way people think about aging,” he said.
The boxing icon added: “People believe that as you get older you get weaker and less physically active at a high level.
“It’s all psychological. If you think you feel bad and old, then you feel bad and old.”
“If you think you feel great, you feel great. It’s about what we see about ourselves.”

Another fan commented: “I can’t say it better: keep believing and fight strong in life.”
And a fifth San said: “I’m not going to lie, I thought so too, and now that I see you at this level, I’m convinced. I love you, Mike.”
While Tyson retired from professional boxing after a loss to Kevin McBride in 2005, the 58-year-old fought Roy Jones Jr. in 2020.
This show duel ended in a draw, although both men showed a good performance.

Jones Jr. actually gave his verdict on the Tyson-Paul showdown last month.
He expressed his belief that it was a “great situation” for both men considering how much they could earn from the fight.
However, he predicted that Tyson would cause a big surprise by defeating an opponent 31 years younger than him.
“I think it’s a great fight and also a great marketing situation because a lot of people want to see it,” he told FightHype.
